A Call to Doll Makers and other Doll Lovers, Let's network!

I took a little break from teaching this year because I wanted to explore some ways to teach on line. It seems that people aren't inclined to travel as much as they did a few years ago. The internet is growing so rapidly and even the doll makers are getting connected. It seems only natural that the next step would be to make doll classes available on-line. Well, I still have a lot more exploring to do as far as creating things like video tutorials and complete courses in doll artistry. I think we're all experiencing the time crunch and finding there aren't enough hours to do all the things we want to do. I know that I still want to teach and share what I am learning with other doll people. I am working on developing some techniques for painting more realistic baby dolls. I call it "Reborning" porcelain. This is just one of the ideas I am working on. I have a feeling that the way to teach on-line is coming soon.

It seem to me the step I need to take right now is to get reconnected with my dear old doll friends and get connected with some new friends too. Living and working in isolation in rural Missouri I crave association with others who share my passion for creative doll making.

The longest journey begins with the first step, as they say in the east. Today I would like to invite any of you who are so inclined to join me in exploring the many possibilities available to us, to work and learn (and play) together using the internet as the means of getting together.

Friends, new and old......This is your invitation to join the Doll Dreamers Society.

Some of you were members of the Doll Dreamers Guild for a while. I've taken the technique guides that I created for the DDG and put them on-line. These will be available only to members of the DDS.

The Doll Dreamer's Guild was mainly concerned with teaching DEEP Technique. (DEEP TEchnique stands for Dianna Effner Eye Painting Technique)

The Doll Dreamers Society will be dedicated to teaching, sharing and having fun while learning all the skills that have to do with doll making. The DDS will be more interactive than the DDG due to it's internet orientation. The Doll Dreamers Society is not only for doll makers but also for folks who like to make things for dolls, like costumers, designers and crafters. We also welcome those who like to collect, display and play with our studio made dolls. (Yes, you can play with porcelain dolls!)

I'd like to call on some of those who would join the Doll Dreamers' Society to consider getting involved in the planning and formation of the organization. Let us know your thoughts and intentions when you register. This will be your organization. I have a vision which I will lay out for you, to decide if it is something that you would like to take part in. - Dianna Effner
