New Ways to Learn and Teach Doll Making
by Dianna Effner

With most of the teaching studios gone, we must find another way to learn and teach doll making. I have an idea to develop guided projects for students to learn basic doll crafting skills.  These can be organized for home study with support from an instructor like an on-line course.  They can also be organized into group project workshops where students can get together in their doll groups and do the projects together.
For this mode we would like to appoint project leaders who would coordinate the lessons.  If you are interested in independent home study or in coordinating group study workshops please email me.  See info below.   Before we can do the work to set these courses up. we have to find out if there is enough interest to make it worth while.  Some feedback from you will help us determine if this is the right direction to take.

Here is an example of a Project workshop that could be adapted for home study or group study.  I taught this workshop at the Sauder   Village last summer.

Allison with Krinkle Silk dress and Silk Satin slippers.

Basic skills covered in the workshop

A.  Painting Allison from a video by Dianna Effner

B.  Dying with Colorhue Silk Dyes

C.  Shoemaking

D.  Ribbon Embellishments

Optional Lessons:  Body Assembly and mounting.

Patterns  and kits for completing the projects would be available to order.

This is just one example.  I would like to collect some name of those who would be interested in these projects.  Please let me know if you would be interested in the following by e-mailing me, dianna@diannaeffner.com Put project workshops in the subject line.

Tell me if you are interested in more info on the home study doll craft courses or you if you interested in learning more about becoming a project group coordinator.

A Fun Project With Press Molds
by Dianna Effner

I discovered these clear plastic shapes at the Craft and Hobby Association show last summer and had some fun with them over Thanksgiving weekend.  This would make a good group project or class if someone would want to organize it.

Here is the link to buy the Clear Scraps.  I used the snowflakes, stars and the mini deco album for these.

I decorated them with eyelash trim, dimensional gel paint, glitter and other scraps of fiber from the hobby store.  I don't have time  to write it all up but you can get the idea.

The eyelash trims are from Expo International  Here's the link.
